A key figure behind the massive Apple Park construction project is leaving the company, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Apple’s VP of Real Estate and Development Dan Whisenhunt has reportedly announced his retirement after over 10 years in his current role. While Whisenhunt’s LinkedIn page has not yet been updated to reflect his retirement, the SF Chronicle notes that the Cupertino City Council was notified of the change last week. As noted by Bloomberg, Whisenhunt will be replaced by Kristina Raspe, who has been serving as Apple’s Senior Director of Real Estate and Development....

A new report today from KGI shares projections that the 2018 iPhones will include significantly faster baseband chips from Intel and Qualcomm, although Intel will be the main supplier. The most forecast from KGI predicts that 70%-80% of the improved baseband chips for 2018 iPhone models will come from Intel. This isn’t surprising news given the recent history between Apple and Qualcomm. Most recently Qualcomm accused Apple of sharing confidential information with competitor Intel....

Kim Kardashian’s foodie friend Jonathan Cheban legally changed his name to Foodgod. Cheban has been building his new brand for years. The papers were filed in a Florida courthouse October 23. KGI Securities has released its 2018 iPhone product mix forecast, and in it reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted two new iPhone form factors coming next year. Some 42 years after the Apple II was launched, a Kickstarter campaign aims to create a clear case for the Apple II and Apple II Plus… The same company, MacEffects, previously ran a Kickstarter for a clear case for the Macintosh SE/30, which is due to ship next month. The latest update says that production for that model is currently running 1-2 weeks behind schedule. Two options will be offered this time: the Apple II case at $195, and the Apple II Plus case at $175....

While CarPlay is more common than ever in new cars, aftermarket solutions are still an economical option for many. Kenwood has announced today that it is expanding its receiver lineup with seven new CarPlay head units, including five that support wireless CarPlay. In a press release, Kenwood announced that it will ship a total of seven new head units with 6.95-inch displays. All seven of the models feature an adjustable screen angle design, Bluetooth, CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM....
